About this deal

I always enjoy the author’s descriptive writing in this series, I like to take myself off to these wonderful parts of Northumberland in my mind. Dopo aver a lungo atteso quest'ultimo romanzo della serie, mi dispiace dire che sono veramente delusa.

The Cove" (the first book in her new Summer Suspense Mysteries series) was released in 2021 and followed up by "The Creek" in 2022. As always Ryan is quick to spot the clues and ably assisted by Frank and McKenzie the culprits are brought to justice. Another well paced, fun, captivating mystery for DCI Ryan and our favorite team of detectives to solve. I can only assume all of those loose ends are part of the setup for the next book or two – at least I hope that is the case. Lady’s Well is probably one of new favourites in the series with plenty of twists that had me hooked. As ever the Ryan/Frank combo often brings a lightness to the investigations as their banter can’t help but bring a smile to your face, especially when Frank is still dressed as Uncle Fester when they turn up at the crime scene. Jonathan Keeble, as always, brought the main, much-loved, characters to life which is what made me keep listening. Accusations abound in the small, close-knit community, and old religions spar against new while fear runs like wildfire through the streets. After a busy year fighting crime, DCI Ryan and his team of murder detectives are enjoying a festive season of goodwill, mulled wine and, in the case of DS Phillips, a stottie cake or two - that is, until a freak snowstorm forces their car off the main road. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. This is probably a matter of personal taste, but I disliked the constant references to Trump, Liz Truss, TikTok, influencers, etc. In addition to her DCI Ryan series, Louise has created a new series of thriller novels based around the central character of ‘Dr Alexander Gregory’, whose work as a psychological profiler takes him around the world. She studied undergraduate and postgraduate Law at King’s College, University of London and then abroad in Paris and Florence.

Quite enjoyed it as I love the characters however I think I’d worked out many of the twists long before they and that’s a shame as it is not like the usual offerings - still love frank though he’s a legend! The Bookseller magazine has reported on Louise having topped the ‘Most Read’ and ‘Most Sold’ fiction charts, and she has garnered an army of loyal fans who love her atmospheric and addictive storytelling. The prologue gives a hint as to what the team will be caught up in but as ever there is so much more going on and things are not quite as simple as they first appear. He was belligerent, bellicose, and totally contrary, but did someone dislike him to the point they would want to kill him?

But things take a sinister turn when the entire village suffers severe poisoning, and one old man turns up dead. The question is whether the problems with the village's water supply caused his death and did Eco-protestor kill himself because he felt guilty for Fred's death? She needs to find herself again, and seeks help from an unlikely source, but she's given leave to deal with her feelings.Yes, we get it, he is tall and handsome and upper class and white and privileged, but why does this need to be reiterated so many times? Favourite songs: 9 to 5 (Dolly Parton); Hold On (Wilson Phillips); Into the Groove (Madonna); What’s Love Got to Do With It (Tina Turner); Fly Me to the Moon (Frank Sinatra); We Didn’t Start the Fire (Billy Joel); American Woman (Lenny Kravitz).
