Increase quantity for We Need to Talk About Vaginas: An IMPORTANT Book About Vulvas, Periods, Puberty, and Sex! In this beautifully illustrated book Dr Allison Rodgers simply explains everything from why we have periods to sex and consent in the age of social media. After over 40+ years on this earth, I saw this book and thought, what don't I know about the vagina? Included are mothers and daughters, identical twins, transgendered men and women as well as a woman pre and post her first vaginal birth and another women pre and post labiaplasty. You can stare without shame but in wonder and appreciation of these women who bared all for the sake of art.

Allison Rodgers simply explains everything from why we have periods, to sex and consent in the age of social media. As a 34 year old woman with severe endometriosis, I didn't learn anything from this book apart from a few interesting statistics but that is okay as I am hardly the target audience for this book. It can be embarrassing to discuss your vagina with your parents, we can feel confused about the changes that are happening to our bodies, and nobody else talks about vaginas—so why should you? I don't think the information (interesting as it was) was presented in a compelling manner and the preaching tone felt forced and put of place.

This book aims to open up the conversation about a topic that is still surrounded by taboo and shame. A very interesting topic and even though over 50% of the population have them we are always a little behind the curve. For instance, it is pointed out that some people now use the word ‘vagina’ to mean the vulva, but that is wrong. If you’re ready to have ‘the talk’ with your child but you’re not sure where to start, let this excellent book do the hard work for you. You’ll learn the correct names for everything, realise public hair is TOTALLY NORMAL, and discover the magical self-cleaning properties of vaginas.

This would have been such a blessing in my teenage years, when I knew nothing about female body, pleasure, urges, and alas, this was true for long, long years – some details are new now, such as discharges are normal, and vary from woman to woman, menstruation does not attract sharks, in spite of what people can deduct from the classic Spielberg film Jaws- http://realini.From its conception to the final touches he discusses the inspiration and ideas behind it as well as putting it in the context of his other artworks.
